Assaf Shani ''Tel Lachish'' 2012

Acrylic on Canvas

30/25 cm

Signed Back

Shani is a painter and an architect by training, and he has brought precision to the world of architecture with him for painting, which he has been dealing with for over a decade.

The details in his landscape paintings are remarkably accurate, creating a unique and precise realistic work.

He wanders across the country, in communities that are both in consensus and those who do not, and brings with him photographs he took. Afterward, he draws the one who grabbed his lens and brings to the viewer pieces of the land, parts of the landscape, buildings, fields and settlements. His paintings are absent and the landscapes speak for themselves. Shani does not use modern and commercial symbols in his works, thus giving them a timeless, rootless, and judgmental quality.

Shani's works invite the viewer to set an internal clock while observing them, as if seeking to sharpen the observer's attention to the landscape. Some paintings are created as individual paintings and there are series, although even in the series each painting stands in its own right. His works speak to each other's memories and create a familiar and pleasant place.

Shani's works are concentrated and full of interest. The artist paints in acrylic colors and on the back of each work he signs his name and the painted place. His paintings are sold at auctions as well as in galleries abroad.
