A Letter of Torah Novaelle in the Handwriting and with the Signature of the Kabbalist Rabbi Shalom Lopez to Rabbi ‘Binyamin HaTzadik’
A long, three-page letter. Dated 12 Adar 5733 [1973]. In the letter are Torah novaelle in the handwriting of the Kabbalist Rabbi Shalom Lopez. An encompassing discussion of prayer at the correct time. The letter begins with an introduction about the severity of being late to pray. The letter is addressed to Rabbi Binyamin Zilber. Among the leaves are inscriptions in the handwriting of Rabbi Binyamin Zilber who edited them and prepared them for print, and they appear in his book Az Nedabru, chapter 86. There are three lines through the last lines, including the Kabbalist’s signature, an erasing which Rabbi Zilber marked for the printer where to print. | Rabbi Shalom Aharon Lopez [1904-1994]. Rabbi of the city of Acco for 45 years. Born in Aleppo. After his immigration to Israel, he developed a close relationship with the Rabbis of Jerusalem: the Brisker Rav, Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and Rabbi Amram Blau. He established the ‘Mekabtzeiel’ organization together with Rabbi Yehuda Tzedaka. In 1950, he was asked by the Rishon L’Zion Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Chai Uziel to accept the position of Chief Rabbi of Acco. | Folding marks. Staple holes. Aging stains. | 21x16 cm.
