Likutei Moharan with the Illustration of the Gravesite and the Green Title Page - the Press of Rabbi Yehuda Tzigelman - Breslov Publishing, Warsaw, 1924

Sefer Likutei Moharan, seventh edition at the Chassidic Press by Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Tzigelman in Warsaw - Breslov publishing, 1924. (Kama): [1], 4, 141, [1] leaves. Tanina: [2], 51, [9] leaves.

In each section there us a fine additional green title page with the year: ה’ל’א’ ז’ה’ נ’ח’ל’ נ’ו’ב’ע’ מ’ק’ו’ר’ ח’כ’מ’ה’ [1923]. On its verso, a green illustration of the gravesite. Added at its end: "שיחות ממעלת תורתו וספריו הק'"  and after the indices, the list of subscribers which including the elite of Chassidic Poland. It is interesting to note that many of them chose to identify themselves with their and their mother's name.

The history of Breslov notes the great joy that accompanied the publishing of this edition. It was the first time the book was published in Chassidic Poland. To celebrate the event, many Breslov Chassidim gathered on Lag BaOmer of that year at the Shtiebel of the Breslov Chassidim in Warsaw, dancing for approx. two hours to the tune of the song "בך רבינו נגילה" and holding a festive meal with sermons and Sichot on Rabbeinu and his Torah... (Amudei Or).

Slightly loose connections. Some moth perforations. Stains. Good overall condition.

Some handwritten corrections on the margin of the sheet. Signatures and stamps: "מרדכי רייזמאן".

The Tzigelman Press!

The famed Chassid Rabbi Aharon Leib Tzigelman - became close to the Breslov Chassidut by the influence of the Mashpi'im Rabbi Yitzchak Bteiter and Rabbi Shlomo Gavriel. After Rabbi Shlomo Gavriel's passing, he even served as Mashpi'a of the Breslov Chassidim of Warsaw and stood by their side during World War I. Since ca. 1912, strengthened the Beit Midrash in Warsaw, established with other important Breslov Chassidim the first holy Kibbutz on Rosh Hashana in Lublin, gave daily lessons and financially supported important Breslov Chassidim, breathing life into anything related to the Breslov Chassidut.

One of his special enterprises was the printing and distributing of the books with the Torah of Rabbeinu Moharan. Based on a careful calculation, until 1936, he merited printing and distributing seventy-five thousand copies of Breslov books. The books were distributed at an insignificant price sometimes even for free, having one single purpose - to publish Rabbeinu's Torah in the world! As a result, he fell into heavy debts, which despite his many efforts, he did not manage to return.
