Discovery! The Likutei Moharan of the Famed Mashpi'im: Many Glosses by Rabbi Shlomo Wexler and Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz on Their Copy of Likutei Moharan - Lemberg, 1876

Exciting! LIkutei Moharan, well-worn from use and indicating it was repeatedly studied. On the margins of the leaves, many glosses handwritten by contemporary Ma'atikei Hashmu'ah of the Breslov Chassidut. Four of them (in older script and brown ink) were identified as having been handwritten by the Chassid, the famed Mashpi'a Rabbi Shlomo Wexler and dozens of additional glosses (in blue ink from a later period), some of them lengthy, handwritten by the Chassid, the famed Mashpi'a Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz. Some of them refer to other Breslov books. Among the leaves of the book, 2 Kvitlech. To the best of our knowledge, these glosses were never published.

Fifth edition with additions (including comments and references on the margins of the leaves by Rabbi Nachman of Tshehrin). 2 sections of Likutei Moharan printed by Beril Leib Nechilis, Lemberg, 1876. Printed leaf-by-leaf after the LIkutei Moharan that was printed at the house of Rabbi Nosson in 1821. [4], 122; [2], 44 leaves. 24 cm. Many tears affecting the text. Detached leaves. Stains and much wear. Fair-poor overall condition.

The name of the author of the comments and references on the margins of the leaves is based on N.T. Kenig, Neveh Tzaddikim, Bnei Berak, 1969, p. 41.

With an addition of new approbations.

The indices from the first Sefer Likutei Moharan were omitted here and printed in section II.

Tanina:

The name of the editor and proofreader was omitted. After the Breslov 1821 edition.

This copy of the foundational LIkutei Moharan had belonged to two leading Breslov Chassidim: the holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Wexler and Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz. Two Kvitlech were found among the leaves of the book.

On the leaves there are four glosses handwritten by Rabbi Shlomo Wexler (early script in brown ink) and dozens of glosses handwritten by Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz (later script in blue ink).

Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Shlomo Wexler and Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz.

Fair-poor overall condition. Many detached and blemished leaves, some affecting the text. Possibly, there are missing leaves.
