Alexey Fedorovich Pakhomov (1900-1973). People's Artist of the USSR (1971). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1973 - posthumously) and the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1946). Member of the "Association of new trends in art" (1922-1923), the art association "Circle of Artists" (1926-1932), member of the board of the Leningrad Union of Artists (1932-1949).

He graduated from the Central School of Technical Drawing of Baron A. L. Stieglitz (now the St. Petersburg State Art and Industry Academy named after A. L. Stieglitz. A student of N. A. Tyrsa and V. V. Lebedev. He occupied one of the leading places among children's artists book graphics of Leningrad in the 1920s-1940s. As a painter, he created many significant works that took their place in the history of Leningrad art of the 20th century. Among them: The Reaper (1928, Russian Museum), The Girl in Blue (1929, Russian Museum) , "Archery" (1930, State Russian Museum), "Portrait of the drummer Molodtsova" (1931, State Russian Museum).
