ZOLA EMILE: (1840-1902) French Writer. A main literary figure. A good A.L.S., Emile Zola, a large and good example signature, two pages, 8vo, Paris, 13th December 1897, to a newspaper chief editor, in French. Zola forwards a small note to his correspondent, mentioning that it will be published, and states in part `I find it necessary for ''The Figaro'' and for myself. I also send you a proof of the brochure. Please consider if it would be convenient or not to add a small text alongside the note. I do not ask for anything, I simply want that you do the best for our common interest…´ EX The present letter is most probably addressed to the Figaro newspaper chief editor, and also most probably referring to his ''Lettre a la Jeunesse'' (''Letter to Young People''), being the present letter dated 30 days before the famous publication of the open letter ''J´accuse'' on the L´Aurore newspaper on 13th January 1897.
