Kosher certificate for Rishon Lezion wine, signed by the Kabbalist Rabbi Naftali Hertz Halevi - the first Ashkenazi Rabbi of Jaffa and the colonies - Jaffa 1902

A kosher certificate for a wine sent from the cellar of Rishon Lezion to the Winegrowers' Association in Jerusalem, signed by Rabbi Naftali Hertz Halevi, Jaffa 1902.

The Kabbalist Rabbi Naftali Hertz Halevi [1852-1902] the first Ashkenazi rabbi of Jaffa and the colonies. From the majestic figures of the 'old settlement'. A Kabbalist and a hidden righteous. He came to Israel from Bialystok in 1884 and settled in Jerusalem. About two years later, Rabbi Shmuel Salant and the Maharil Diskin were sent him to Jaffa to establish the Judaism in the city and the nearby colonies. Along with strengthening Jewish affairs in the area, Rabbi Naftali Hertz Halevi fought the changes in the character that the immigrants of the first aliyah sought to lead in the city.

Size: 28x21 cm. Tears in the margins. Good - moderate condition.
