Rudakov Mikhail Zakharievich (1914, Poltava Region – 1985, Moscow).
Honoured Artist of the RSFSR. He studied at the Kharkov Art and Industry Institute (1933-1935). He fought in the Second World War, worked in the Soviet Patriot newspaper. He was arrested and sent to a labor camp; was rehabilitated in 1957. He illustrated books and periodicals, was an art director in the Kotlas Drama Theater. In Moscow, he worked as an artist at Reklamfilm (‘Advertising Films’), and in the Molodaya Gvardiya, Progress, Khudozhestvennaya Literatura publishing houses. He illustrated works by A. Blok, F. Viyon, Golden Ass by Apuleus, Evenings At a Farm Near Dikanka by N. Gogol, The Moon And a Penny by S. Moem. After a trip to Spain in 1979, the Spanish theme got an important place in the artist’s work. He had one-man shows in Moscow in 1979 and 1982.
