COURT MENOLOGY (CHURCH CALENDAR)
for the summer of 1796 A.D. St. Petersburg: at the Imperial Academy of Sciences, [1795]. -
[2], 1-273, 174-181 [=281], [1] s., [1] l. front; 11, 5x8 cm. The edition of 825 copies. Frontispiece
engraved by I. K. Mayr, engraved title page. Compiled by I. V. Meisman. In a semi-leather cover
of the epoch. Gold-embossed spine. Red tinted book edge. Minor scuffs on the binding, owner’s
marks on the front flyleaf.
Court monologies or calendars were printed annually and, as a rule, were published in the month
of December of the previous year. Their main content and purpose were determined by information
about the persons who served at the court. Court staff, lists of all holders of Russian orders, Russian
Ministers in foreign States and foreign ones in Russia, senior members of colleges, governors, etc.
