Lot of books of the Shulchan Aruch HaRav by the Admor HaZaken with important stamps and signatures
1. Two volumes containing three sections of the Shulcha Aruch HaRav by the Baal HaTanya, Vilna 1929. Note of ownership on one volume: “Shlomo Mordechai…Kluger Lodz Pietrekosky.”
2. Shulchan Aruch HaRav 5th section Yoreh De’ah, Chernowitz 1860. Detached title page, stamp: “Zeev Yedidya”. Binding partially detached.
3. Shulchan Aruch Orech Hayyim second section—Warsaw 1874. Like the Stettin 1864 edition. Two title pages, important stamp of ownership on the title page: “Avraham Mose Babad, Rabbi in Gora-homora”, see below.
4. Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah, fifth section. 1913, stereotype printing of Warsaw 1895 (like in Stettin). Two title pages.
5. Shulchan Aruch Orech Hayyim, fourth section halachot of Pesach 1875. Like Stettin 1864. Two title pages. Title pages have notes: “Shlomo Katz Kriger”, “from the estate of David Dominitz” and an important stamp: “Yehuda Leibush Potosher, motz in Titshin.”
Total of 6 volumes, various bindings including some original to the period, various defects (not checked thoroughly), various conditions, mostly good.
Rabbi Avraham Moshe Bavad (1900-1980), son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bavad of Gura Humorului, a chassidic rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Bucovina and in Israel. The foremost disciple of Rabbi Meir Arik of Tarnow, succeeded his father as rabbi of Gura Humorului. After the war he attempted to immigrate to Israel in 1948 but was exiled to Cyprus, where he served as the rabbi of the internment camp. After immigrating to Israel he had a close relationship with the Chazon Ish. In 1958 he was appointed as rosh yeshiva of the Yachel Yisrael yeshiva that was led by his step-brother-in-law (as he was the son-in-law of the stepdaughter of the Rebbe Rabbi Yisrael Hager, author of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz), the Rebbe Rabbi Baruch Hager.
