Kuznetsov Pavel Varfolomeevich (1878, Saratov -1968, Moscow).

Born in a family of an icon-painter. Studied at Bogolubovskoe College of Painting in Saratov (1891-1897), then at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1897-1903) under Korovin K.A., Serov V.A., and at private academies in Paris (1905). Was a member and exhibitioner of such associations, as "World of Art", "Union of Russian Artists", "Four arts", "Salon of the Golden fleece". Organized "Red Rose" exhibition, which had been followed by "Blue Rose" Society, formed after. Was one of the founders and ideologists of the association of symbolist artists "Blue Rose", formed after the same-name exhibition of 1907. Together with B.E. Borisov-Musatov, he was one of the most successive Russian symbolist artists. P.V. Kuznetsov works were included by Dyagilev S.P. in the Russian art exposition taken in Paris of 1906. In 1910th he made a travel to Kirgizia, crossing the plains, located across Volga river, and created "Steppe Suite" upon the impressions he got from the travelling. Worked much in a theatre. Was a teacher in Higher studios of arts and crafts and other universities. P.V. Kuznetsov works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other regional museums.
