American Jewish War Relief Pin - WWI
A pinback button of the Jewish War Relief and Welfare Fund. The pin shows a woman holding a baby, alongside the Hebrew inscription: Your brother's blood cries out to you, and the English inscription: the Jews look to America for help, written on a silver background with The United States flag. Marked on the back: the Whitehead & Hoag Co. Buttons, Badges, Novelties and Signs, Newark, NJ.
The Jewish War Relief was formed in 1914, a few months after the beginning of WW1, to aid the Jews of Europe and Palestine who were devastated by the war.
The United States, circa 1915. Diameter: approximately 2 cm. Good condition, rusted back, wear.
