“Ka Ribon” – Zemiros by Rabbi Yisrael Najara. Venice, 1599
Zemiros, songs and poems of praise and gratitude to the Creator and Master of the world by the famed Jewish poet and lyricist Rabbi Yisrael Najara.
Rabbi Yisrael Najara’s most famous song ‘Ka Ribon’ appeares in this print (p. 7a).
Rabbi Yisrael Najara (1555-1628) was one of the greatest Jewish poets and lyricists of all time. He was the son of Rabbi Moshe Najara, one of the prime disciples of the Arizal and author of Lekach Tov. The Arizal Hakadosh professed that Rabbi Yisrael’s songs “Are valued in the heavens” (Chida, Shem Hagedolim).
