Non-Traditional Haggadah - Kibbutz Ashdot Yaakov [1945]

Non-traditional haggadah, stencil print with illustrations.

Beside traditional kibbutz Haggadah texts: [Arise, you who stray in the desert, etc.] there is an interesting text relating to the tragedy of the Holocaust: [Today, when we see the seed of our father Abraham eye-to-eye in all the ghettoes in which they were pushed, the entire disintegration of a nation, the emptying of its content and the black death that ambushes it ... the day that a person is sold to molech, the gentle souls rot from slavery and bondage'], an interesting text regarding the hatred of the "villains": "Rage, do not tire, tear, do not dry, stay lit forever in our souls, never fade away, as the blood seeps into the earth, the anger against the villains is not forgotten ... and to the hearts of a thousand generations, we will write: Hate the beast to defeat it as it is exposed ..."

There is also an interesting text about the gates of Palestine which were closed to the immigrants' boats. The text begins with a large letter ע with a picture of a boat, saying, "The flag bearers of the Jew's plight are abandoned at sea. They will not let the gates of the country close, they will not let the whole conscience relax. History chose the immigrant to fulfill its mission. What is the power of a poor immigrant against the mighty power of states and governments who do its will? But there is also a great country which will be helpless before the troubles and suffering of masses of people. The troubles of Israel are sent by ship upon the seas." and more.

[30] leaves. 21 cm. Spine reinforced with glue. Detached last page. Except for this, very fine condition.
