During WWII, von Galen led Catholic protest against Nazis, denounced Gestapo arrests and persecution of the church. He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005. A good and scarce D.S., `+ Clemens Augustinus«, one page, 4to, given at the monastery, 12th July 1942, to Camillo Herrmann, in Latin. The partially printed attractive document bears the heading `Clemens Augustinus - Bishop of Munster«, beneath a printed monogramme of the Munster diocese, and is the designation of Camillo Herrmann as priest. Bearing a red ink stamp with the printed text ''Clemens Augustinus - Episcopus Monasteriensis'', to the bottom left corner.
