REMINGTON BROTHERS: The Remington Arms Co. was a 19th century American firearm, sewing machine, and typewriter manufacturer, later known as E. Remington & Sons. Eliphalet Remington II, the founder, and his sons Samuel, Philo and Eliphalet III, manufactured the first commercial typewriter on March 1873, and their arms were widely used by the U.S government in World War I and WWII. Two D.S., `S. Remington«, and `E.Remington«, respectively, by Eliphalet Remington (1793-1861) and Samuel Remington (1819-1882), the documents being two signed cheques, Ilion, New York, 8th April 1854 and 13th July 1860 respectively. The partially printed cheques are completed by Eliphalet and Simon Remington, and are drawn on the Ilion Bank. Both cheques have a tear to the centre, not affecting the signature. G £100-150
