GARRETT PAT: (1850-1908) Patrick Floyd Garrett, known as Pat Garrett, American Lawman, and customs Agent in the Old West. Sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico, he is best-known for killing Billy the Kid. Garrett was murdered under unclear circumstances. D.S., `Pat F. Garrett«, two pages, oblong 4to, New Mexico, 30th August 1881, to the Sheriff of Lincoln. The partially printed document being an arrest warrant, states `You are hereby commanded to arrest and take the body of Manning, first name unknown,..so that you have his body before the District Court and County of Lincoln at next Term thereof to the begun and held at the Court House on the first Monday of November A.D. 1881..« Signed to the verso by Garrett under the annotation `Not found«. The document bears a large blind embossed seal of the U.S. District Court of New Mexico to the bottom left corner. Folded, with a small tear to the centre fold.
