EMPRESS ALEXANDRA FEODOROVNA: (1798-1860) Princess Charlotte of Prussia. Empress Consort of Russia 1825-55, wife of Emperor Nicholas I and mother of future Emperor Alexander II. A.L.S., `Alexandrine´, four pages, 8vo, Pavlovsk Palace, Saint Petersburg, 3rd July 1823, to Countess Orloff, in French. A lengthy and very friendly letter, largely referring to Royal family members, and stating in part `Nicolas is at the military camp now, Alexis too, he talks all the time about his trip to Moscow..´ further saying `Our Sacha was introduced to your cousin few days ago, wearing his guard uniform, on horse, with a helmet, cuirass, etc.. on his little horse at the garden; it was an unconceivable figure which made Alexis laugh a lot..´ A letter of interesting content. About EX £250-350 Nicholas I (1796-1855) Emperor of Russia 1825-55. Alexander II (1818-1881) Emperor of Russia 1855-81. Assassinated. At the time of the present letter ''Alexis'', as referred to by his mother Alexandra Feodorovna, was only five years old.
