SELOUS FREDERICK: (1851-1917) British Explorer, famous for his exploits in Southeast Africa. A.L.S.,...
SELOUS FREDERICK: (1851-1917) British Explorer, famous for his exploits in Southeast Africa. A.L.S., F. C. Selous, three pages, 8vo, Worplesdon, Surrey, 7th February 1907, to Mrs. Noble. Selous sends his correspondent a Fellows Ticket (no longer present) for the present session of the Royal Geographical Society and adds 'I believe that this ticket will admit one person to any of the ordinary lectures; but I do not know if it will be of any use for a special meeting', further remarking 'When the date of Capt. Boyd Alexander's lecture has been announced, if you will let me know I will write to the Secretary of the R.G.S. and see if I can get you tickets. He might be able to let me have one or two, but there will probably be a very big crowd and tickets will be difficult to get. I should think that my Fellows Ticket ought to be good for one seat'. VG £100-150 Boyd Alexander (1873-1910) English Lieutenant, Explorer & Ornithologist. In 1908 he was awarded the Royal Geographical Society's Founder's Gold Medal for his 'three years' journey across Africa from the Niger to the Nile'
