VEDRINES JULES & LATHAM HUBERT: Two attractive signed postcard photographs by French Pioneer Aviators, comprising Jules Vedrines (1881-1919) First Aviator to fly at more than 100 mph. Winner of the Gordon Bennett Trophy race, 1912. Rare vintage signed postcard photograph (`J. Vedrines´) to a clear area of the front image. The image showing Gilbert Le Lasseur de Ranzay (1885-1912), a French pioneer aviator, who died at the very early age of 26, flying on a Bleriot monoplane, with a small inset head and shoulders portrait of the pilot. Autographs of Vedrines are rare as a result of his untimely death at the age of 37 in an air crash; & Hubert Latham (1883-1912) The first person to attempt to cross the English Channel in an aeroplane. Latham also set several altitude and airspeed records. Signed postcard photograph by Latham `H. Latham´, in bold black ink.
The imageshowing Latham flying in the Antoinette monoplane, with a small inset head and shoulders portrait of the pilot. Postmarked and Post-stamped, 30th April 1910. Latham died at the very early age of 29, in Africa, under unclear circumstances. G, 2
