Palace orders issued by the second division of His Imperial Majesty's own Chancery by the highest order. Volume IV (from 1676 to 1701).
Saint-Petersburg. Type. II Department of His Imperial Majesty's Chancellery. 1855 1158 STB, 1. solid Leather binding, 18 x 26.5 cm. Very good condition, Fox spots, worn spots on cover.
The last, fourth, volume includes categories that relate to the reign of Tsar Fyodor Alekseevich; the reigns of John and Peter Alekseevich under the influence and main management of their sister – Princess Sophia; the first years of the independent state of Peter the Great – from September 9, 1676 to October 17, 1700.
Discharge books (or discharges) are books of records of orders for military, civil, and court service. According to the publishers, they appeared during the time of Ivan III and continued until the new institutions of Peter I – thus, they made a complete chronicle of government and official activities in Russia during the Moscow period of Russian history.
