Bogdanov-Belsky Nikolai Petrovich (1868, village of Shopotovo, Smolensk province - 1945, Latvia).
Studied at the school of S.A. Rachinsky and the icon-painting workshop at the Trinity-Sergeevsky Lavra, from 1884 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting and Painting with V.E. Makovsky, V.D. Polenova, I.M. Pryanishnikova. In 1889, for the painting “The Future Monk” he received a large silver medal and the title of class artist. After 1895 he studied at the Academy of Arts with I.E. Repin, as well as in Paris with F. Cormon and F. Colarossi. Since 1890 he took part in exhibitions of the TPHV, and since 1895 he became a member of the Partnership. Worked in St. Petersburg. He painted mainly genre paintings on themes from peasant life. His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, regional museums, as well as in many private collections.
