Drachenko Petr Gerasimovich (1913 – 1996).
Ukrainian painter and teacher. After graduating from art professional school, in 1930 he became a student in the painting department of the Odessa Art Institute. In 1940, P.G.Drachenko became a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. By this time he is already taking an active part in art exhibitions. Member of the Great Patriotic War. After being wounded, he was captured. In 1945 he was liberated by the Allies and returned to his homeland. Since 1946, Drachenko P.G. worked as a teacher of drawing and painting of the Kiev art school. In addition to the landscape, he worked in the genres of still life, portrait, historical and genre paintings. In 2003, a posthumous exhibition of Peter Gerasimovich Drachenko was held in Kiev. The artist’s works are presented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
