Superb condition. Binding partially antique leather. Annotations and glosses complete, including censorship changes. On the Title page and ‘Forsatz’ page appears signatures of early, Italian owners. In this particular copy, the final eight pages of the book are not bound in it.
This edition is the eighth edition of the fundamental book of Jewish law, authored by The Rif (Rav Yitzchak Alfasi), one of the wise sages of Fez, Morocco in the 11th Century. The majority of books of Jewish law authored in the Middle Ages based their rulings on that of the Rif.
This book is the first of 41 books to be printed in Riva di Trento. It is rare to find a book from this Printing House in such excellent condition.
