Sefer Or Ammim, R' Ovadia Sforno. First Edition. Bologna 1537. Impressive and beautiful copy.
The first book printed by the "The Partners, Makers of Silk-work", a printing house that R' Ovadia Sforno himself supported and perhaps founded.
Only 22 Hebrew books were printed in the city of Bologna, where R' Ovadia resided.
Rabbi Ovadia Sforno (1475-1550), was one of the greatest sages of Italy and is famous for his commentary on the Torah. He settled in the city of Bologna, serving there as a halakhic judge and making his living as a doctor (earning him the nickname 'Knight of the Doctors').
In his philosophical work 'Or Ammim', R' Ovadia refutes the views of non-Jewish philosophers who did not believe in G-d. His translation of the book into Latin was printed in Bologna 1538, one year after the Hebrew edition.

Bound in a modern and beautiful parchment binding. An unidentified signature appears on the title page. The interior of the book is in wonderful condition, with clean pages and wide margins.
