Sefer Chamesh Meggilot with German translation and elucidation by Moses Mendelssohn, Aharon Ben-Wolf [-Wolfson] and Joel Brill. Berlin, brought to print by members of the Shochar Tov V'HaToshiah society, at the Chanoch Ne'arim Society Press. 1788-1789. Complete copy.
First edition of Chamesh Meggilot with German translation and the 'elucidation' by the progenitors of the 'Enlightenment.' Each megillah is introduced by a printed dedication page to one of the leaders of the haskalah.
Complete copy with all the subscriber leaves at the beginning and all the title pages. The format of the volume is as follows: General title page, followed by the subscriber leaves, and another title page for each of the five meggilahs. Extensive elucidation at the beginning of each book. The meggilahs were printed with a German translation in Hebrew letters, on facing pages, and the elucidation underneath.

Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Detached leaf. The first general title page is detached with lack in the lower margins without damage to text. Partially detached binding.
